RESEARCH INTEREST
Mapping genetic architecture of complex trait for experimental populations
Most phenotypic variations result from segregation of multiple QTLs (quantitative trait loci) which are sensitive to genetic, sexual, external environments. A comprehensive understanding of genetic architecture underlying complex trait is a great challenge in the post-genomic era. My current interest is mainly focus on developing a statistical genetic model to modeling the genetic architecture of complex trait including QTLs, epistasis, QTL-environment interaction and epistasis-environment interaction for experimental populations, and developing the two-step genome scan strategy to search for QTL and epistatic interaction.
Microarray Data Analysis
Microarray has become an increasingly popular biotechnique in biological and medical researches, and has been widely applied in classification of treatment subtypes using expression patterns of biomarkers. I am also interested in developing statistical models and methods on differential expression genes (DEGs) identification in mixed linear model framework with the aim of objectively identifying expression biomarkers for treatment subtypes, such as tumor types or other human diseases. These identified biomarkers with highly statistical significance could be used as an important assistant in the disease diagnosis.

QTModel Software Development
QTModel software is designed for experimental data analysis. It currently have six modules including Reg (Regression analysis), Mixed (Mixed linear model analysis), Array (Microarray data analysis), Diallele_Plant (Quantitative trait analysis for plant traits by diallele cross design), Diallele_Animal (Quantitative trait analysis for animal traits by diallele cross design) and Diallele_Seed (Quantitative trait analysis for seed traits of plant by diallele cross design).

1) Design the architectural system of the whole software.
2) Design and develop two of the modules Mixed and Reg.
3) Develop the models and methods of array module and involved its programming.

QTLNetwork Software Development
QTLNetwork is a QTL mapping software for experimental population, which could handle data from multiple-environment trials (METs). It could not only map single-locus effect QTL, but also detect epistasis, QTL-environment interaction and epistasis-environment interaction. The results are presented in both text and graphic format.
